Thank
you for visiting our website. The information
contained in this website may very well save your life.
The ResQtag is a device that
fits on the rider or pillion jacket and pants zipper pulls and
contains information that is vital to emergency personnel in the event
you are in an accident and unable to speak for yourself. The medical
information is of utmost importance to First Responders and Emergency
Medical Service professionals treating you at the scene of an
accident
As good as this system is, it’s going to depend on you to implement it
properly. This device is NOT A KEY CHAIN. It does not go in
your tank bag or panniers. Don’t stick it in a saddlebag and
expect it to be found in an emergency. The device must be located
on your person. It must be plainly visible to the responder who
will be treating you in the event of an emergency. Zipper pulls
on your riding jacket and riding pants is the best place to affix the
device. This is how it was designed. Not only will it be
easily seen, but, during a secondary survey you can rest assured the
device will be found.
A Riders Perspective:
In the Fall of 2005 I was riding with three other riders whom I’d met
from a motorcycling website. I had known some of these guys for
over a year, attended a rally with a couple of them and counted them
among some of my best riding friends. While riding the Cherohala
Skyway in Western North Carolina I high sided (due to my own
stupidity). I was very lucky not to have been hurt. I can’t
help but wonder what if things had turned out differently. If I
were unconscious, what information could my riding partners pass along
to emergency responders? “His screen name is NCbub, he owns
several bikes and he lives in or around Asheville, NC.”.. Not
really a wealth of information for the responders to work with.
Lets look at this another way. About 85% of the time I’m riding
with my best friend. I’ve known him since 4th grade. We
have been riding together since we were 11 or 12 years old. Our
families are very close and we try to take a bike related vacation
every year. To say he and I are good friends is an
understatement. Let’s say we are riding and, God forbid, he were
to go down. What information could I provide emergency
responders? Name, sure. Address, yes. Past medical
history, other then tearing up his knee pretty good with a Honda dirt
bike in December, that’s about it. Allergies, medications, blood
type, organ donor?… I would be no help. The information contained
in the ResQtag will give the responders the information they need to
better provide treatment in a timely manner.
A Paramedics Perspective:
I was a Paramedic for the largest EMS Service in Western North
Carolina. It’s a well know fact we are blessed with some of the
greatest motorcycling roads in the United States. I have worked
more than my share of accidents involving motorcycles. Here are
some problems working these types of accidents:
Rider and bike are never near each other after a bad accident
occurs. If you have your emergency information stored on your
bike I’m not going to find it. Why? Because I’m not going
to look. I’m not going to waste precious time looking for
something that may or may not be there. I’m going to be treating
you - the rider.
Emergency information is stored on your person in a pocket. I’m
not going to find that either. Most riding gear has about 12 to
14 pockets counting jacket and pants. Again, I’m wasting time
looking for something that may not be there. That time is better
spent treating you.
If I roll up to the accident scene and I see a sticker on your helmet
and a ResQtag on your zipper I can’t help but find your emergency
information. At some point early in the treatment I’m going to
want your jacket off. Imagine my surprise when I find everything
I need to base my treatment on in a nice neat convenient
location. This will solve a lot of my problems and help me help
you with faster and, in some cases, more appropriate treatment.
Please help others help you. Ride with a ResQtag. It could be life or death. Yes - it’s THAT important.
Who else could benefit from ResQtag?
Cyclists
Mountain Bikers
Hikers
Climbers
Paddlers
Campers
Divers
Skiers
Mentally and physically handicapped
Elderly
Horseback riders.
